
Position: Events Coordinator – Volunteer – Part-time
Overcomers United is looking for an Events Coordinator, for a volunteer, part-time position, who will report to the Founder and CEO, and will help to develop or produce events from conception through to completion. Event Coordinator responsibilities include providing excellent customer service and establishing memorable events that meet and exceed expectations for Overcomers United.
The candidate is expected to work remotely.
Overcomers United is a grassroots not-for-profit incorporated organization run solely by volunteers. Overcomers United aims to empower and support individuals experiencing difficult circumstances to achieve sustainable livelihoods through their entrepreneurial aspirations and goals, whether those center on being self-employed, bringing a business idea to life, opening an artist’s studio, or making and selling hand-crafted products, amongst other entrepreneurial pursuits. In supporting such entrepreneurial ventures, Overcomers United aims to impact an individual, their family and the larger community, as well as ensure that the projects supported are environmentally sustainable.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Event planning, design and production while managing project delivery elements
- Liaise with clients to identify their needs and to ensure customer satisfaction
- Conduct market research, gather information and negotiate contracts prior to closing any deals
- Propose ideas to improve provided services and event quality
- Organize facilities and manage events’ details such as décor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material etc.
- Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations
- Specify staff requirements and coordinate their activities
- Cooperate with others to promote and publicize event
- Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day
- Conduct pre and post – event evaluations and report on outcomes
- Research market, identify event opportunities and generate interest
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience as an Events Planner or Organizer
- Impressive portfolio of previously managed events
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- Sales skills and ability to build productive business relationships
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently
- Own the growth and success of Overcomers United
All Volunteers work as their personal schedules allow. We ask for a minimum commitment of two (2) hours per week with a minimum of one (1) year commitment.
