Aluminum Tabs and Cans Collection Program
Overcomers United needs your help in our effort to collect aluminum tabs and cans year-round, in order to generate funds that benefit our One-on-One Mentorship Program that provides not only mentoring but coaching, support and programming such as financial literacy, professional development and skills building.
What is an Aluminum Tab?
An aluminum tab is the piece of metal that opens aluminum cans. Like the can, the tab is recyclable, refundable and accepted by local scrap metal companies.
Why Collect Tabs and Cans?
The tabs are more effortlessly recycled and stored in collection containers. They are smaller and easier to handle when receiving large volumes. The amount of money received is determined by the weight of aluminum collected.
However, it takes more than 1,000 tabs to make a pound, you need to collect and pull the tabs off more than 12,000 cans to raise $5.00. While, you would only need 50 cans to raise $5.00. These tabs and cans make a big impact towards supporting our One-on-One Mentorship Program when collected in large numbers.
How to Turn in Tabs and Cans
Unfortunately WE are UNABLE to Pick Up tabs and cans.
When dropping off tabs and cans, please contact us before doing so. Alternatively you can also mail in tabs if it is feasible. Our mailing address is 2063 Dufferin St, Toronto, ON M6E 3R6
Outside of Toronto and Nationally in Canada
Please take your collected tabs and cans to your local scrap metal company. You can e-transfer the funds to overcomersibg2g@gmail.com. We ask that you also include your mailing and contact information, including your email address, so that we can send you a thank you Certificate of Appreciation / Thank You Card.
* Be sure to include your name(s), school or organization name and contact information when sending your collections to ensure proper acknowledgement of your donation.
** Please note that pop tab "collections or programs" cannot be credited towards volunteer hours.
